What we did

Al Rayan Bank is the UK’s largest wholly Sharia compliant retail bank. We’ve been pioneering British Islamic banking since 2004. By solely focusing on banking activities which are compliant with Islamic law, Al Rayan Bank is able to make a significant and lasting difference to Muslims throughout the UK, helping them to save for their families’ futures, expand their businesses or buy their own homes, without compromising their beliefs.

Their brief was simple – create a new Umbraco website with the aim of increasing online brand awareness; educate the audience in Sharia finance; increase online leads and sales (Salesforce); provide a responsive experience and become a ‘best of breed’ banking website.

Knowledge before assumption

In order to develop the new website, we commenced by holding workshops with key stakeholders to agree the key strategies. This then allowed us to provide documentation defining the strategy, based on workshop feedback. Once this was fully understood, it allowed us to created informed low and high fidelity interactive wireframes to bring the strategy and user journeys to life.

Over 500,000 visitors

We built the site using Umbraco – a highly flexible and easy to use CMS. to deliver the fully responsive website we utilised an Agile approach to development that allowed for on-going stakeholder feedback and adjustment.


Salesforce integration

Part of the challenge was to ensure 3rd party integration was completed and managed correctly. We needed to ensure that all leads from any device were passed through to Salesforce.


As part of the creative process we expanded the brand to work across their digital spectrum. Which involved us developing a suite of iconography that was used across the website and beyond.
